December 26 & 28, 2017 Poetry Workshop with McMahon & McNiece at “Guide to Kulchur” bookstore

Join Claire McMahon and Raymond McNiece at the “Guide to Kulchur” bookstore on Tuesday, December 26, and Thursday, December 28,2017 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm for a workshop on poetry writing that is free and open to the public. Please bring 10 copies of each of your poems that you would like to share. The “Guide to Kulchur” bookstore is located on West 65th Street, Cleveland, OH 44102. 

Claire McMahon studied with Allen Ginsberg, Anne Waldman, Joanne Kyger, Anselm Hollo, Gary Snyder, and Bill Berkson at Naropa University where she and writer Steve Roth founded the journal Make Room for Dada, publishing notable poets like Amiri Baraka, Charles Bukowski, and Bernadette Mayer. She has a PhD from Kent State University. From 2006 – 2010, with poet Lisa Janssen, she co-edited the arts journal MoonLit. In 2007, she published Emergency Contact (Van Zeno Press, 2007). Currently, she runs a monthly poetry workshop with poet Ray McNiece. She is an Associate Dean at Cuyahoga Community College’s Westshore campus.

Poet, singer, musician, actor, and performer Ray McNiece is the author of six poetry books – Dis: Voice From a Shelter, The Bone-Orchard Conga, The Road that Carried Me Here, Song that Fathoms Home, and Wet Sand Raven Tracks, and US? Talking Across America.
