Calling all  Ohio scholars! Our Scholar-In-Residence position is open to applicants!

Goal to form and expand communities of learning with the Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library:

A key objective in the Library’s strategic plan is to form communities of learning. This objective will be fulfilled by seeking leadership and programming from the Ohio Center for the Book Scholar-In-Residence who will seek to gather people together so they can share information, learn from one another, gain new insights, and become sources of action.  By establishing a Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library we will enhance programming and outreach projects utilizing the scholar’s knowledge and scholarship strengths.

  

Guidelines for the Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library:

  • Applicants for the position of OCFB Scholar-In-Residence must submit a resume or CV, an OCBF Scholar-In-Residence Application form with a 500 word statement of purpose, and two letters of recommendation.
  • The Manager of the OCFB, a CPL administrator, a representative of the State Library of Ohio, and a representative of the Ohioana Library Association will serve as application reviewers.
  • Programming by the Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library would need to be conducted Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on the Main campus.
  • Programming by the Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library at CPL Branches would extend the time for programming to 7:00 pm.
  • The programming by the Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library would have limited opportunity for evening programming unless an outside venue was used, such as the Happy Dog, Phoenix Coffee Shop, Market Garden Brewery, or similar location.
  • Programming must be free and open to the public.

Position Requirements for the Scholar-In-Residence at the Ohio Center for the Book @ Cleveland Public Library:

  • The Scholar-In-Residence will support, plan, and promote programming related to OCFB initiatives such as Get Graphic!, Cleveland Public Poetry, Poetry Out Loud,  It’s Time to Talk, the Mike Curtis Collection of Superman Memorabilia, Octavofest, Read Ohio, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, the National Book Festival, Choose to Read Ohio, or other related programs, as determined in partnership with the Manager of the Ohio Center for the Book.
  • The Scholar-In-Residence will support, plan, and promote related OCFB programming for not less than 150 hours.   These hours will be broken down into 120 hours of patron engagement and 30 hours of preparation and promotion.
  • The Scholar-In-Residence will be responsible for an end-of-project summary.
