Join us Saturday, April 12, for a celebration of poetry and nature!
For National Poetry Month, we are partnering with Kent State University Press and the Cleveland Cinematheque for a celebration of poetry and nature.
Beginning at 4 PM at the Main Library of Cleveland Public Library, contributors to Light Enters the Grove (Kent State University Press, 2024), a poetry anthology that explores Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the “rich relationship between artists and the natural world,” will read poems and be in conversation with the Ohio Center for the Book.
Readers will include:
- The current Ohio Poet Laureate Kari Gunter-Seymour
- Kortney Morrow
- Quartez Harris
- Caryl Pagel
- Catherine Wing
- and others!
The first 30 attendees at the poetry reading event will receive a free copy of the anthology, and poets will be available for signing afterwards.
Then, at 7:15 PM at the Cleveland Cinematheque, join us for a special screening of the acclaimed film Evil Does Not Exist, directed by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi. “Takumi and his daughter Hana live in Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo. One day, the village inhabitants become aware of a plan to build a camping site near Takumi’s house offering city residents a comfortable “escape” to nature.”
A limited number of free tickets will be available to reading event attendees.
