Saturday, April 19, at 1:30 pm – Cleveland Public Library’s Main Library
Ohio has a number of connections* to the horror genre, so on Saturday, April 19, at 1:30 pm, join us for a screening of the groundbreaking 1922 cinema masterpiece Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror). We’re celebrating the film that helped to lay the foundation for the entire vampire and horror genres!
This could be your once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the classic film with LIVE musical accompaniment provided by Kaboom Collective with Artistic Director Liza Grossman. The music will be a suite composed by the film’s original score composer Hans Erdmann.
In addition to enjoying the film, you’ll learn about the film’s production, the volatile controversy connected with Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and Nosferatu‘s continuing influence on contemporary film makers and the horror genre.
Celebrate Nosferatu’s immortal legacy with us!
The event will be held in the Cleveland Public Library’s Main Library in the Louis Stokes Wing Auditorium in downtown Cleveland, 325 Superior Ave. E, Cleveland, OH 44114.
Attending in costume is not required, of course, but is encouraged.
*Ohio’s horror connections are legion, and they include being home to authors like R.L. Stine (born in Columbus) and the director, producer, and screenwriter Wes Craven who was born in Cleveland and worked at Cleveland Public Library! The films A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Silence of the Lambs, Scream 2 and more were all set in Ohio as well.
